Initially, my professional interests encompassed language teaching, 1st and 2nd language acquisition, and literacy development. During my childhood, I was slow to start reading and writing, and I did not know why. During the 1980s there was far less information regarding diverse and neurodivergent learners.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was only during my career as a teacher in international schools, that I really began to gain an awareness of how important differentiation is. Having lived and worked in Tanzania, Vietnam, Uae, Saudi Arabia, German,\u00a0 and Austria. I have gained a wide range of experiences. I was raised between South America, the USA, and Austria, I subsequently obtained a degree from The University Of St. Andrews with a\u00a0 Masters in English Language and Literature. I also obtained a PGCE from the University of Sunderland with a specialization in multilingual learners. The purpose of this school project was to approach teaching in an integrated approach. During this integrated approach certain subjects were taught in English.\n\nI then subsequently started working at the Vienna International School where I lead\u00a0 a class of multilingual learners for three years. Every learner\u2019s needs are unique and many aspects of their environment need to be taken into consideration when designing an individualized program.\n\nAs a rule, each program is set up following consultations with parents and where necessary with teachers, and is based on observations, screening and identified goals for improvement.
